First of all, I would like to thanks Feeq, Meon, Andy and Debbie for the food tasting invitation. The food reviews was with Nagomi Japanese Restaurant at Jaya33 outlet for their Christmas meal- Master Chef’s Christmas 6 - course Enchantment ....

The Master Chef - Ikuo Tanabe “The Magic Hand”
This creative Christmas menu idea was derived from Master Chef "Ikuo Tanabe".
Inarguably one of the most renowned Japanese chefs in the country, Mr.Tanabe came to Malaysia in 1974 to take the position as head chef in Hotel Equatorial. He was entrusted with planning and running perhaps the first fine dining Japanese restaurant in the country, Daikoku, or known as Kampachi today. Over the last 34 years of his career, Mr. Tanabe had trained and imparted skills in culinary art to many chefs who now helm the scores of popular Japanese restaurant or prominent hotels in the Klang Valley, Australia, UK and the USA.

Mr. Tanabe has a vast experience in making all kinds of Japanese cuisine, focusing on food quality and delicacy of presentation in his dishes. His strong skills in creativity and innovation have earned him a reputation for his excellence and quality in Japanese cuisine.

Master Chef’s Christmas 6- course Enchantment

Course 1: Zensai(前菜)

The first dish came to our table was this Foie Gras Caviar, this creative idea of Master Chef was amazing. Decoration of the dish was focused on a wine glass with the goose liver served with crispy French Baguette.

Course 2: Sashimi(刺身)

Follow by the starter was fresh import Salmon – Salmon Cappaccio. Thinly slice Salmon Sashimi marinates in delicious Balsamico cause.

Course 3: Osuimono (御吸い物)
Asari Potato Kurimu Shiru

This was a mouthwatering soup of Fresh Sea clams,Asparagus and Potato. Feel refreshing when I’m having it and the most important I love clams.

Course 4: Yakimono焼き物)

Finally the main course is here, yummy Chickin NoKarashi Yaki. The chicken drum stick was grilled to perfection with flattering Mustard Cream. This dish was special as when it was served, initial thought the chicken was wrapped with Pita bread, but in the end found out the outer layer was made from white egg yolk. It’s exactly looks like Pita bread and soft, thumb up to the Chef.

Course 5: Sushi(寿司)

Christmas dinner will not perfect without a cake, and for the first time I’m having Sushi cake. This is Chef special creation, concoction of Maguro, Scallop, Fruits, vegetables and Sushi rice.

Something special with this dish was there are 3 different type of sauce given: seaweed, egg yolk with vinegar and sour plum sauce, I preferred egg yolk with vinegar as it tasted good with the sushi cake and I love vinegar.

Course 6: Dessert(デザ一ト)

Lastly here came the dessert, actually I was really full while on 5th course but this dessert is so tempting and I can’t resist it. An Epitome of Dessert, a delightful dessert of mixed fruit Jelly with Japanese almond Tofu. For Tofu lovers, I’m sure you’ll like this dessert.

On the first level, we have 2 big grapes which marinated with Red wine; the taste of the red wine was all over the grapes and really tastes awesome. While moving on to next level of the dessert will have different kind of mixed fruit such as Dragon fruit and jelly. At the bottom, will be the sweet scented almond in the tofu.

Lastly, the meal must not complete without the Red wine, it is included with the Christmas meal. Options are given to choose between Red and white wine.

Something worth to try on :

,Japanese Mochi, it was soft and sweet with the crunchy peanuts.

Fresh Orange Juice without colouring / sugar added. The orange juice is sweet by default as it's blended with wholesome dietary fiber.

Thanks to Meon, Debbie, Andy and the team for your hospitality and the early Christmas meal.

I certainly recommend to give a try with this Christmas meal as its special, creative and the most important “It’s a Japanese style of Christmas dinner differ from the traditional western meal”. You’ll love the ambience, food and the quality.
